The foster care system is a temporary arrangement in which adults provide for the care of a child or children whose birth parent is unable to care for them.
When a child is in foster care this can affect his/her education due to circumstances beyond his or her control. By providing on-site services, students will have increased opportunities for success.
The foster youth liaison works with each foster youth student attending CUSD providing the following support:
- AB490 –Immediate enrollment
- Locate student records, transcripts/credits, IEPs, Ed rights holder, and other necessary information.
- Monitors students attendance, grades, behavior
- Liaison between, group homes, social workers, foster parents, and students.
- Collaborate with Special Education Program Specialist, Student Support Coordinator, and school site administrators and other CUSD staff.
